TSA’s Secure Flight Program Using Infoglide’s Identity Resolution and Entity Analytics Software for Airline Watch List Matching
Name Matching Technology is at Core of Program That TSA is Beginning to Launch
Austin, TX – April 1, 2009 – On the heels of the announcement that “TSA’s Secure Flight Begins Vetting Passengers”, Infoglide Software Corporation announced that its Identity Resolution technology is now being used for airline watch list matching for the Secure Flight program of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Based on a key recommendation of the 9/11 Commission, Secure Flight transfers responsibility for vetting airline passengers against terrorist watch lists from the airlines to the government.
The Secure Flight program requires highly-tuned identity resolution and entity analytics technologies to accurately and quickly compare passenger data against the government’s No Fly and Selectee watch lists. Infoglide’s technology was selected for Secure Flight through a wide-reaching proposal process that started with hundreds of companies and included large technology leaders.
Infoglide’s Identity Resolution technology is designed to look for data matches in real-time – resolving spelling variations (John/Jean/Jon or Muhammed/Mahmud/Mohammet) and/or deliberate attempts to deceive. The identity resolution and entity analytics software uses a library of over 50 Similarity Search algorithms to compare data attributes such as name, gender, and date of birth to determine likely identity/entity matches as well as non-obvious relationships between people, places, and things.
“We’re a small but leading-edge software company,” says Michael Shultz, president and chief executive officer. “Some of the companies we competed with have more lobbyists than we have employees. But the government wanted the best technology and technology team available for this very important project and that was us.”
Given the critical nature of the program and with requirements for processing millions of transactions per day, Secure Flight is one of the most demanding and advanced applications of identity resolution and entity analytics technology to date.
